It's incredible how you can pack so much into so few words. How you can paint such a stark and desperate picture of the war and how it's affected everyone, without ever showing the war itself. Each interaction was intense and desperate and dirty, but also really really sad because everyone is reaching out for comfort, depending on their family, the only people they can really trust to be there for them and support them, and at the same time it's also so hotdirtywrong and, the way you write it, how you describe it, with these beautiful phrases that read almost like poetry, these lovely polished phrases, "as though she is summer autumn winter spring" and "He's sitting on his bed reading about Quidditch players that are always going to be better than he is" and "The entire fabric of the universe is writ in the angle of his head, in the stroke of his hand, in the soft grunts and wet guttural sounds" But it's mixed in with crude words, cunt and fanny and slag and spunk, and it's like a reflection of the story itself: how it's beautiful that they can depend on each other and seek comfort from each other, but it's also raw and dirty and wrong. And then the end was just wonderfully hopeful, with Ginny stripping off the red nail polish, and the hope that she can reach out to Neville, who's outside her family, and be able to depend on him, and move past everything else. <3
I'm sorry, this was sort of rambly and probably a little incoherent. One of these days I'll say something about your writing that actually makes sense. (maybe) ::flails::
