( Gary was slow to wake. His body felt stiff and heavy, like when he ran a bit too far on his morning jog, thinking he was twenty-something again. The morning light was harsh behind his eyelids, and he winced, stretching. A sleepy moan came from the other side of the bed. Gary froze. )
