Three STELLAR recs! (Well, the fanworks are stellar; I'm not as sure about my reccing ability since so often it devolves into flail. ;-) )

In the Interest of Interhouse Cooperation by firethesound at dracotops_harry | NC-17, 12k, Content: A slight bit of dominance during sex, and maybe a teensy bit of dub-con.

Summary: Organizing a Duelling Club was supposed to be a fun extracurricular activity for Harry’s 8th year. But add in Draco Malfoy and a malfunctioning Room of Requirement, and things can’t help but get complicated.

Why rec'd: Will a huge keyboard smash suffice? Because I don't know where to start with this one! First, I about died laughing throughout. The author (who I am 99.99% sure about) has a killer sense of humor and the writing skill to really pull it off perfectly. And half the laughs come during scenes that are also blisteringly hot, so that just makes it better. And speaking of hot...SDFS;ALHFSLGHSALHGDSH!!! You get the picture, right? GO READ THIS! It's everything great about 8th year, stuck!fic, their animosity, and their unfailing UST.


Stag Night by iwao | NC-17, Content: Erm, dingy pub toilet? And a blow job.

Why rec'd: It's iwao -- do you have to ask?? Just look at the content and allow me to ask, what the hell are you waiting for?! But if you're still stubbornly here, I will add that this is a beautiful rendition of a hot and angsty scene from sdkshelly's Take Me Down, and believe it or not, you'll love the art even more if you read this first. AND, on top of all that, 'Stag Night' is actually a prequel to a second piece of art by iwao for this story. (I include the link for THAT in a previous rec, so check it out!)


Save My Wonders by sdkshelly at dracotops_harry | NC-17, 21k, Content: chubby!Draco, angst relating to body issues (no fat shaming) (emphasis is the reccer's).

Summary: Immediately chocolate assaulted Draco's senses. Warm melted chocolate mixed with his mother's roses and... something else. Something new. Freshly scrubbed skin and maybe a faint sheen of sweat. It was so familiar...

And it only intensified when Potter came up behind him...

Why rec'd: Wow. Well, let's see. I don't often say this, but this story...it's important. So often, we writers (myself very much included) make 'perfect' bodies, and hey, that's super fun, so I'm not knocking it. But this story rethinks perfection; it acknowledges something so often ignored in fanfiction and that is a fuller, more diversified expression of this human experience we're all having. The author's Draco is fat. Harry wants him. Harry's got it bad. But Draco can't believe that he would. It's handled so deftly and with such personal care and love for the characters and their situation that this story isn't just great because it's fat-positive or because the H/D is beautifully done or because it's superbly written. It's great because it transcends all of those individual successes and becomes more than the sum total of its parts. This story speaks to the heart of the issue and asks us to open our hearts not only to the idea of a beloved character with a culturally non-ideal body, but to ourselves as well.

Please take the 'no fat shaming' part of the content seriously. The intent of this story is not to get Draco to lose weight and thereby feel good about himself. (I should know; I beta'd it.) So if you're going into it unready for the unconditional love you'll find there, know that it may press your buttons. Please be mindful in your comments not to do the very fat-shaming that the story so brilliantly subverts.

That said, dive in and enjoy. It's clever, funny, sweet, HOT, and moving. This story really is a rare treat. <3

It's been betabetabetadramabeta all this week, and still this weekend. And I'm still sitting at about half hurtfest and like... 2 DTH read and *cry*

Thanks so much for the recs, I'm working my way through DTH sloooooowly. Trying to write now, but next week will be catching up on my reading. I skimmed Save My Wonders and it's fantastic. I need to sit down and read it properly, to give it the comment it deserves. I loved Transformation too :)
