Yes, I'm doing 8 before 7, because if I don't do 8 right now, I'll chicken the fuck out. I'm also changing my icon, so that if the only thing nice you have to say is "GREAT ICON!" you can say that and it'll be all good. ;-)

Day 8
In your own space, create a love meme for yourself. Let people tell you how amazing and awesome and loveable you really are.

I'm so happy you asked! You're just cute as a dang button! :-D And may I say, your English is outstanding! I will refrain from practicing my French on you. Four years in high school and two in college, and I'm total crap. And you! If you're writing Harry Potter, you're probably mastering both UK English *and* American since so many Americans write it, too. I'm completely impressed, and I haven't even read your work yet!

I'm very much looking forward to getting to know you better, Sophie! Thanks so much for the friending. <3

And are you up really early or really late? LOL!

Thank you so much for my English, but I also have very competent betas! (lol) You know what? I've spent seven years learning German, and I just can't speak a word of it... Pathetic, really!

Well, funny you should say that about american and british English, because when I speak, I speak with an american accent and use american words and idioms (even when I write, I have to remember not to write colors, or favorite, or gotten!)But when I started writing Harry Potter, I had to use UK English, it just seemed more appropriate! I have very strong links with Britain (many members of my close family live there and we go to England several times a year) so I think I know the at least the basic differences between the two!

Well, I go to bed pretty early when I can, just to be able to get up very early (usually between 4 and 5, this morning was harder, 5.45) to write before my boys wake up and I have to go to work! ♥

You're very welcome for the friending, I'm so happy to have met you! ♥

Do you have someone betaing these comments then? LOL!!! ;-)

I haven't taken to changing the spellings of my words in fic. Maybe that's just American arrogance. ;-) More like laziness. I have tried to learn the lingo, though. That's been really fun! I've caught myself using words like 'bloody' and 'barmy' in my actual life and that's always a little jarring and hilarious.

Do you know [livejournal.com profile] birdsofshore yet? She's English, and we were dying laughing the other day because it seems that American HP writers have taken to calling 'jeans' 'denims' in fic because somehow we got the notion that that's the word Brits use. And Birds was like, 'Oh how interesting; the Americans call jeans denims!' and I was all, 'No, we don't. We thought YOU did!' So there are all these American HP writers writing denims left and right, and they don't even say that there! LOL!!!

I love hearing the stories of the women who write fic -- especially those with families -- and how and when they find the time to do this thing they love. My hat is off to you!

I hope you have a great day! :-)

Oh no, it's not arrogance, I think it's harder when it's your native language! I can choose between the two because neither is my native language, so it's much easier for me! If I were american, I'm not sure I would change, it would be too weird! :)

Lol for Denims! But we do pick things from fics that we think are pretty standard, until we discover it's not!!! Oh, and yes I know her, and she's amazing, such a great writer and lovely person! ♥

Well, I like writing too much at the moment to stop myself from doing it! :)

Thank you and good night then! :)

I'm really sad those cute denims are not going to appear any more in your fics! I thought it was such a nice American expression :D
