Day 7
In your own space, create a fanwork. A drabble, a ficlet, a podfic, or an icon, art or meta or a rec list. A picspam. Something.

First of all, I love how this one is worded -- like the very challenge itself is sort of put out with you. "Make a thing. Anything. Just do something, you fucking slacker."

Anyway, I've decided that I'm going to try to create some squee.

I don't have it in me to write it right this second, but here's what I've been thinking about today. (This is generally how I email my besties and betas, by the way. I just decided to take my brainstormy squee-shit public for this challenge.)

So dudes, I'm at Rite-Aid and I see the game, Twister, and it just hits me. HOMG, what if it's 8th year and the houses all have to live together, right? So Harry and Draco share a common room if not a dorm exactly. You feel me? Okay! So!

I see this fic in three parts. You ever see that movie "Clue", where they have three different endings? This would be the same fic, written three ways, to accomadate (and I've spelled that word 11 different ways, I give up!) three different games. That or they play every Saturday night and each Saturday night is a new section of the story. (THIS IS MY PROCESS.)

Okay, so Twister is one, and Harry and Draco of course get all tangled up, and I think Harry ends up on top of Draco and Draco is trying to hold his body off the mat, but there's Potter ON TOP OF HIM and sort of stumbling, about to fall, but every time he moves, he's totally rubbing up against Draco's cock and Draco is all, "Fucking quit it, Potter." And Harry's all *wiggle wiggle wiggle* "Fucking stop it, Potter." *wiggle wiggle wiggle* And there's eye contact and KNOWING even if nobody else knows and I don't know if Draco comes in his pants or not, but... \o/

The other two nights are, of course, Truth or Dare and then Spin the Bottle. And I have an idea for some magical Spin the Bottle cheating, too, that's just YUMMY!!!!!

So yeah. I think that's what I may write next.

How do you guys talk out fics? Or do you? :-)
traintracks: (tonight i'm fucking you)
Yes, I'm doing 8 before 7, because if I don't do 8 right now, I'll chicken the fuck out. I'm also changing my icon, so that if the only thing nice you have to say is "GREAT ICON!" you can say that and it'll be all good. ;-)

Day 8
In your own space, create a love meme for yourself. Let people tell you how amazing and awesome and loveable you really are.

*hides face and tries not to feel like an asshat*

Going to try to catch up and do day 7 a little later!

Day Six
In your own space, share a book/song/movie/tv show/fanwork/etc that changed your life. Something that impacted on your consciousness in a way that left its mark on your soul.

The obvious choice is Harry Potter, but others have already said about it what I would want to say and very elegantly and beautifully.

I'm going to go way back to my senior year in high school, 1992, to a book that came out and changed my life, because before I'd read the first paragraph of that book, I had never considered that I might want to be a writer or that I might be any good at it. But after I read the first paragraph, I had a new love of my life.

The book was Written on the Body by Jeanette Winterson.

These are the words that made me KNOW I had to write like this someday:

Why is the measure of love loss?

It hasn't rained for three months. The trees are prospecting underground, sending reserves of roots into the dry ground, roots like razors to open any artery water-fat.

The grapes have withered on the vine. What should be plump and firm, resisting the touch to give itself in the mouth, is spongy and blistered. Not this year the pleasure of rolling blue grapes between finger and thumb juicing my palm with musk. Even the wasps avoid the thin brown dribble. Even the wasps this year. It was not always so.

...juicing my palm with musk is what did it for me. (Now I can't get enough of ...resisting the touch to give itself in the mouth... -- GOD!) I ached with wanting to have written that. And I knew I wouldn't stop until I'd played with words and found that sort of ecstasy and sadness within them.

What follows in the book is a love story in which the gender and name of the narrator is never revealed. Winterson is a lesbian, so this was also one of my first examples of positivity regarding my own sexuality. It was like a writing and sexuality double punch!

I'm so grateful to this book for helping me find pieces of myself left unloved, and for having read it, I'm now here. <3

Day5
In your own space, talk about a creator. Show us why you think they are amazing. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

The creator I'm going to talk about is [livejournal.com profile] capitu. What does she create? Some of the best comments ever, wonderful recs, amazing banners, fandom squee, among other things. She creates a little joy everywhere she goes. And she goes everywhere! She makes fandom a little brighter for everyone, always has an encouraging word or support, and is just generally fantastic. Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] capitu, for being you. <3

Day 4
Comment to someone you haven't ever interacted with before or introduce yourself to someone you've interacted with and friend/follow them.

I feel like I'm pledging a sorority or something. LOL!

Done! :-D

Day 3
In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you did not create. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so. See if you can rec fanworks that are less likely to be praised: tiny fandoms, rare pairings, fanworks other than stories, lesser-known kinks or tropes. Find fanworks that have few to no comments, or creators new to a particular fandom who maybe aren't well known or appreciated. Appreciate them.

I'm trying to catch up here. Yesterday was a bad-feeling day (except for the LOVELY distraction of the new and delicious-looking [livejournal.com profile] harrybang [shameless promotion].) And today is not feeling real great yet either. But I wanted to rec some things that are filthy wrong. I've decided Filthy Wrong is going to be my theme in this post.

Colored Black
Author: anonymous at [livejournal.com profile] hp_kinkfest
Kink Showcased: daddy kink, perceived non-con
Rating: NC17
Pairing: Sirius/Harry
Summary: The first time Harry asks, Sirius tells him no, emphatically and without reservation—for all the good that ever did.
Content Notes/Warnings: Contains an arranged non-con/rape situation within the confines of an established relationship, but without the prior establishment of a safeword. Age play
Word Count: 3200

This fic. Is so hot. Like, you may have to look away from the screen from time to time and blush hotly and feel guilty and such. Hot, hot, HOT, I say. FWIW, it's aaaaallllllll Harry's doing. This is a role play. That's very clear. But what they role-play is just so fucking wrong and perfect, I can't even. If you're curious about Daddy!kink or a veteran lover of it, this is the story for you, boy howdy!

Safehouse Secrets
Author: [livejournal.com profile] gypsyflame
Pairings: Ron/Draco; background Ron/Hermione and Harry/Draco
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 3,347
Warnings: Infidelity; sex while intoxicated
Summary: Ron and Draco are sick of being left behind.

This story is ridiculously hot. I am NOT a Ron/Draco person. I actually avoid it. But this... It's just so bloody plausible. And as much as it's a filthy Ron/Draco fuckfest, it's also quite the sweet H/D and Hermione/Ron, too. I can't even quite explain it. But the writing is tight and engaging, and I just love both Ron and Draco in this. I love the absent Harry and Hermione, too, even though I want to smack them both up a little bit as well. (And for the record, I don't want to insinuate that there is anything inherently wrong about Ron/Draco! It's the infidelity part and the fact that they both love somebody else that gives it that wonderfully WRONG feel.)

On the other side of the mirror
Author: [livejournal.com profile] leashy_bebes at [livejournal.com profile] hp_kinkfest
Kink Showcased: Voyeurism
Rating: NC-17
Pairing(s): James/Teddy, Al
Summary: Al wasn't expecting this, but he certainly isn't leaving once he sees.
Warnings/content notes: Anonymous exhibitionism/voyeurism, spanking, James and Teddy know they're being watched, but not who's watching them. Al, obviously, knows once he sees them, but he didn't know beforehand.
Word Count: ~4500

Okay, Al watching Teddy fuck James. Isn't that enough? But it also happens to be written well. And Teddy and James are so fucking SWEET even as it's blindingly hot, so in a way, that makes Al watching wronger, because he's not just seeing a hot fuck. He's not just seeing a hot fuck between his brother and Teddy. He's seeing them fuck all hot AND be all familiar and intimate and beautiful and whatnot. And James is one helluva a sweet little bottom. Guh!

Day 2
In your own space, promote three communities, challenges, blogs, pages, Twitters, Tumblrs or platforms and explain why you love them.

I'm going to try to do ones my flist hasn't already done (AO3 and daily_deviant in particular even though they're both fantastic).

[livejournal.com profile] hd_tropes -- because it was a really well-run fest that turned out some amazing stuff and also gave me the chance to write a trope I'd been wanting to but had shied away from precisely because it *was* a trope. Kudos to [livejournal.com profile] marianna_merlo and [livejournal.com profile] kedavranox for running the fest so awesomely. It was a great experience, and I'd love to participate again.

[livejournal.com profile] hp_3somes -- because there just needs to be more threesome/moresome fic in the world! Maybe it's because I'm writing a moresome right now that this is coming up for me, but I'm really grateful a comm like this exists for all kinds of HP combinations. And while I'm not sure if they're going to have a fest like last year's, I loved participating in it and would definitely want to do something like that again some time.

[livejournal.com profile] quibbler_report -- which consistently reports on great rarepair stories and art in HP fandom. I've read and seen some really great stuff from watching this comm that I would never have come across otherwise. Plus, every time I get recc'd there, I squee a little bit. ;-)

I may or may not keep at this thing. O_o

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator.

Not Waving but Drowning, Sirius/Harry, NC-17, 1,050 words. I think this story sums up my feelings for this pairing, their feelings for each other, and is a good example of how I do PWP and just writing in general. Plus just wordless, fast, hard fucking on the kitchen table in the middle of the night. ;-)

Sectumsempra, Harry/Draco, PG-13, 960 words. I thought about using one of the more explicit stories I've written for this pairing, but I'm really proud of this one, because I think it could be almost canon. I see this as a huge turning point for the characters and how the slash could start very realistically.

Announcing Your Place in the Family of Things, Teddy/James/Scorpius, James/Scorpius, Teddy/James, (background Harry/Draco), NC-17, 15,765 words. I chose this one because it was a turning point for me in fandom. I made a lot of great friends through writing this piece in particular, plus I think it's a good example of my longer works and how I write them, which is not quite as atmospheric as shorter pieces, more focus on story-telling. Also, I wanted to include a story based around Next Gen characters, as they've become important to my writing.

They Searched for Blue, Hermione/Pansy (mentions of past Hermione/Ron, Pansy/Daphne), NC-17, 2,365 words. I think this is my best femslash. It's angsty but hot. I love writing women as full sexual beings, and I tend to get frustrated when sex between women is too often depicted as soft and sweet, lots of gentle kisses and such. Women can fuck. Women can feel animalistic. For me, this little story communicates so much about how I write women.

Edit: OMG, THREE of these use poetry for titles! *facepalm*
